Welcome to the Little Yogi Program
The little yogi program came into being to support children on their journey of self-study. Introducing yoga at a young age has a variety of benefits. Children learn techniques that will better equip them to deal with emotional upsets and deal with stressful events.
We create a nurturing environment in which children can begin to recognise and identify their emotions, build self-awareness and body positivity in a non-judgemental safe space.
We visit early learning centres across Cairns delivering 30 minute lessons to classrooms.

Children have a strong sense of identity
Alignd. encourages children to be authentic and allow their unique light to shine bright. Cultivating compassion, empathy and love for ourselves and others are key elements in our teachings. Children are encouraged to communicate their needs throughout classes, especially for comfort and assistance. Alignd. supports children not only through physical movement but also emotional care to ensure children feel safe to openly express feelings and ideas to the teacher and their friends.

Children are connected with and contribute to their world
Classes have a strong focus on building community and encourage helping and being fair to others. Classes help build the skills required for children to participate, contribute in meaningful ways and cooperate with others during group activities and games.

Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
We create a warm, predictable and safe environment within classes while also teaching movements and techniques designed to develop fine and gross motor skills and encourage children to take responsibility for their health, emotional states and wellbeing. Learning about healthy lifestyles, nutrition, personal hygiene, physical fitness, emotional and social relationships are all integrated within the principals of yoga and are promoted through class themes and activities. Yoga supports both physical and emotional wellbeing of children.

Children are confident and involved learners
Alignd. focuses on creating a non-competitive, non-judgemental environment for children to feel confident and secure to actively participate and interact with friends in each and every class. Naturally children are curious and imaginative and yoga is a space where this nature can be nurtured and explored.

In yoga we use a variety of tools to express our ideas, thoughts and feelings. We will explore through voice, music, movement and gestures. Each child is encouraged to express themselves and use their unique voice in a positive way. We encourage children to share what they have learnt with their parents as they begin to use learnt techniques throughout their everyday life.
